Having a good time with JeanetteThis blog is posting before we did the Mt. Washington blog--which was earlier the same day.
The moose tour was four hours long but we saw 5 moose--two mom's with their baby and one bull.
The moose don't come out much in summer because they don't like the heat. The tour was strickly riding in a van and then hopping out if time permitted before the moose disappeared. They come out to the road and like the salt that's on the side of the road. The lady driver and guide calls herself a moosaholic. She finishes tous and goes out again on her own. I get the feeling that every one around her would like her to "get a life" besides Moosing. She talked for four hours about moose. They have1000's of ticks--shed the ticks and that starts the tick cycle again--can become enemic from tick bites--can go crazy from eating something that elks produce--make good lean meat--there's a nine day hunting license that is $500 for out of state hunters, $150 for NH residents-but then how do you carry the moose after you shoot it? Doesn't matter what size moose you shoot if you have a license--Bulls shed their antlers every year-get tired necks from dodging trees with their antlers-sometimes kneel to give their necks a rest. . . well, you get the picture. She was extremely knowlegable. She even told us about u-tube videos that she watches and maybe we'd enjoy them too.
She's a school bus driver but is jealous of some other driver that sees more moose on his route than she--but then admitted that she might be late to school if she had that route. Said the kids still get excited about seeing moose. Actually, I think they would just always get excited because they know it thrills her so much.
Talented too. Held the spotlight out the window w her left hand while driving on very dark and narrow roads--(said her husband buys her spotlights for Chistmas)--texted her daughter--and pointed to photos on her IPAD screen that faced us--all this while safely driving.
I'd show photos of the moose we saw but it was all after dark except one that's too far away. THAT'S a bummer.
Got back to the Inn around midnight after driving through very dark and rainy roads. We were happy to finally arrive at the Inn and were kind of sorry we had gone so far away to get the tour, but it was actually worth it to see Berlin and Chev's mom.
